Video and Images
Page updated: 5 September 2009
Photos from 3rd and 4th of September. Ruapehu is in superb shape.

Getting ready in the carpark for a superb day at Whakapapa.
Thursday the 4th. No crowds, new snow and bluebird weather. Bit of wind around that's all.
Plenty of snow around the Express and Rock garden still

My buddy Dave enjoyed the warm up runs on the express! Great snow.

We love the views on this side of the hill. The Pinnacles at Whakapapa are awesome! You get a great sense of there scale when you note the people from the valley Tbar below!

Up close you can see why they hold the extreme comps there. Some great chutes!

Out West opened up in the afternoon as the wind dropped. The snow released to beautiful spring skiing from the top of the far west Tbar down, plenty of epic stuff.
Great views over to another volcano!
An excellent day at Whakapapa!
Round at Turoa the next day the snow is still good down low. Plenty of awesome wind blown powder on the upper mountain as long as you did not mind the wicked and quite evil wind.

The winds were strong but the snow is plentiful. Turoa side on Saturday today the 5th.
A bluebird day on the hill 6 August

Turoa has loads of snow now!

Alpine Meadow beginners area at the base is well covered as is the sled park
The sled run creates loads of smiling faces. Sleds can be hired on the mountain from $10 for an hour.
RAL have opened up more than one ski in to the base area

The upper mountain was really crowded on this wonderful week day!

The six was cranking along
Looking back up the upper mountain plenty of spring like snow
Looking back down the hill. Overall Turoa is well stacked with snow from that last storm cycle.
Mountain men love...
